STRATFORD, CT – May 2, 2016 – Northeast Horticultural Services of Stratford honored Arbor Day, April 29, 2016 by planting a tree and educating the clients and employees from Marrakech, Inc., of West Haven.

Stacey Marcell, owner of Northeast Horticultural Services, began the celebration with a presentation to a group of clients and employees from Marrakech about Arbor Day and the important role trees play in our environment, followed by the planting of a Korean Dogwood tree at their facility. As part of the presentation, Stacey showed the proper way to plant and care for a tree and explained all the benefits trees provide to humans, animals and the earth and why trees are so important to our ecosystem. Stacey is always looking for ways to share her knowledge of and passion for trees and the care of the environment.

Marrakech, Inc. is an organization that provides residential, employment, support, referral, and advocacy services to individuals with disabilities and people with similar service needs to assist them in exercising their human rights as citizens and contributing members of society. The organization looked to Northeast Horticultural for support in helping to beautify their property while the organization continues to help better the local community.

Arbor Day is a nationally celebrated observance, established in 1872, that encourages tree planting and care. It is celebrated every year by states and cities at different parts of the year according to the region’s best tree-planting times.
